The Artist’s Story
I am Christine, a South African artist, whose paintings are inspired by memories, travels, and scenes that bring me a genuine sense of joy. I work in a loose, impressionistic style. My portfolio includes tropical landscapes, gardens, wildlife, florals, and scenes from around the world. Rather than aiming for literal geographical accuracy, my travel paintings distill the essence of an entire holiday- such as an African safari, an Italian market or a ski slope- into a single image that captures the feeling of the experience. Others are inspired by destinations I hope to visit or scenes I simply wish I could step into.
I work primarily in oils, often over an acrylic under-painting. I build my paintings with rich layers of oil paint and oil sticks. Through expressive brushwork and a vibrant use of colour, I create paintings that evoke a sense of peace, calm, and joy.
My hope is to create paintings that bring warmth, optimism, and a sense of peaceful escape into any space.
